The Midnight Call

I recieved Madhuri's call at midnight, the moment I heard her voice I sensed a bad news was about to be delivered, sadly I was right, She told me her Mom just expired...

Aunty, my friend Madhuri's mom, had been keeping unwell for sometime, this Diwali when I called to convey my wishes, I got to know that she has been hospitalised. I called Madhuri who was with her in the hospital and I got the oppurtunity to talk to her. I spoke to her, unaware that this would be my last.

I had taken it for granted that, Aunty would come back home and things would get normal again -just as it happened every time she was hospitalized.

This Diwali was meant to be very special for her, as it was her daughter's first Diwali after marriage. And celebrating the occasion from the hospital's bed was not what she had planned.

It amazed me when I learnt later that ignoring her health's warning she went ahead and prepared all the Diwali sweets. This action of hers only reminded me of our parents unconditional love for us, they never seem to get tired of putting us before them.

Yesterday, I bade my final farewell to her, my best friend's mother, who has left a vaccum in our lives, that can never to be filled specificly, her family's.
